Upper left 1st molar?

Was in the clinic the other day attending to my patient, doing the usual history taking and examination of oral tissues. It was my first time bringing in a stranger. what's more, this happened to be the first week that we were going solo. I used to have a coursemate with me, assisting me throughout, and point out whatever that i've missed out. with my bad memory, it's only normal that i forget some things. overlook others. you know.. things like that..

it was a good thing that my patient was particularly chatty. it really helped ease me. quiet people freak me out. i'd have to guess if they're feeling uncomfortable, or ask them if they're comfortable every other minute. shish.

after my initial examination, I got Dr Russell to do a second check in case i miss out something. he took a look and decided that my patient was to have fissure sealants on 2 of her teeth. he said it really quickly and asked if i was up to it. well, i was! have been wanting to try it out on a patient. so i jumped to it without paying much attention to which teeth he mentioned. stupid me.

i then went around scouting for the materials and instruments needed. i had to borrow a light curing lamp from my classmate as i did not have mine sterilised.

finally, i gathered everything i needed and was off to work!

Got Dr Russell to check the sealants when they were done.

Dr: So, you've put on the sealants?
Wein: Yes, I have.
Dr: Where is the sealant on the upper LEFT 1st molar?
Wein: err... on the right 1st molar?
Dr: you did a good job on the upper right, now do it on the upper left.
Wein: YES SIR!

i didn't actually go YES SIR..would have been too inappropriate.

i remember him saying something about 1st molars. well.. i could have sworn the upper right tooth looked like it could use the sealant!

i know it's no excuse. fortunately we're only talking about fissure sealants here. i wouldn't dare imagine what could've happened if it were an extraction or something worse even!!!

I have SO much to learn..

Note to self: Always ask when unsure. Better safe than sorry.

Black Glutinous Rice Dessert

Take 1

Take 2; looks just as yummy.

Cooked it with a rice cooker. Quick and simple. Don't even need to soak the rice overnight!
