Lazy weekend

ahh... being able to sleep and rise whenever i please is just pure bliss! i have not had the chance to do that in a very long time first due to the jet lag and later due to the exams.

i spent all weekend indoors apart from the hours i spent in Waterstone's. there were just so many books and i felt as if i want to just cart them all back. mmm, i finally settled with just 4 books. 3 of them already on my reading list, and 1 was an impulse buy.

the time in my room was spent watching Romantic Princess, a Taiwanese drama starring Wu Chun!! uhh.. one can just melt at the sight of his smile.. *teary eyes*

*blush*

i finished all 13 episodes of it in 2 days!

in between, i caught up on the latest episodes of several other TVB dramas. ( ugh!! why no new episode of Gem of Life today??!!!) ( wait lemme check again)

*goes to check*

oh there is a new episode indeed!! ^^

i also finished To Kill A Mockingbird, a book which i have long pushed to the corner and left to rot. i dug it out after my exam and had to start all over because i have forgotten the beginning, and also have no idea where i left off.. hehe)

It took me quite some time to get used to the author's style. The narrator refers to her father by name, something that i can not comprehend. What's more is the use of Southern American english with words like yonder ( there) and chillun ( children). However, as the story unfolds, Harper Lee manages to capture the heart of readers with the innocence of children and racial injustice. It tells of how Negros are mistreated and how a White man accuses a Negro of a crime he did not commit, but was still convicted in the end even when all evidence was clearly in favour of the Negro. My verdict: A good read.

I couldn't keep myself from starting this book immediately after that. It was calling out to me. I want to finish the book before watching the movie, which i have been told, is superb! Slumdog Millionaire! (formerly known as Q&A)

Finished it in 2 days. It's about an orphan boy who joined a TV game show, Who Will Win a Billion?, and was accused of cheating on the show when he managed to answer all 12 questions and won 1 billion rupees! The book tells of how he just happened to know the answers to the questions totally based on what he has gone through in life, no cheating involved. My verdict: very entertaining and has a beautiful description of life in India.

now that i've finished Slumdog Millionaire, i shall move on to a new book; A Thousand Splendid Suns! i shall devour you tonight! yum yum! *grins widely*
