clinical skills lab this morning was so much fun! we got to poke each other with needles! haha.
we had a tutorial on Local Anasthetics and were asked to try administering it on each other. since we're not supposed to actually inject LA with no apparent reason, we had to do it "inadvertently". wtd!
administering LA is really really fun! i thought i would faint from the act of puncturing someone's sulcus! (mind you, i almost fainted trying to remove a splinter from my mom's finger) yea that's how weak i am. anyway, my supervisor was there to watch over me and he was sooooooo reassuring! thanks Dr Russell! he guided me through the whole process. it really is quite easy. i didn't expect administering LA to be as simple as that. and there was no pain involved, apart from the slight discomfort when the LA flows in. and before i knew it, the fun was over. shucks. i want to inject people more often! hahahahah
then it was my turn to be the patient. i had topical anasthetic applied first to numb the area so i wouldn't feel the puncture. the horrible part was that my partner put on too much of it and it fell onto my tongue, leaving a really awful taste and also numbing that part of my tongue! we were supposed to numb the molar but she applied it on my premolars instead. and later, she injected my molars. what's the point of the topical anasthetic then? i could feel the needle puncturing my sulcus. but with my high threshold for pain, it was nothing. haha.
feeling numb on one side of my mouth feels really weird. that's my first time being anasthetised btw. my lip felt really swollen and it drooped slightly. we all looked hilarious after the session. it wasn't that bad as the effect wore off in 20 mins.

i'm so happy happy happy! i almost jumped with joy at the news! hahah. my Pharmacology exam is cancelled! woo hoo! i've been sooooo dreading that exam! yay! it's cancelled. we got the news yesterday but i'm still soooooo happy today! hahah. hate pharmacology!

Even though I got a bruise from it after that..^^
